Mom's memories of the simple things.

My mom and I were talking yesterday about the special drink day. I told her about how excited the kids were when they got home, and how I loved that something so simple brought so much joy to them. Mom started telling me about how she can remember growing up and being older, like maybe high school, and her dad started the same thing. She remembered how when he would come home from work he would have the little glass bottles of Sprite(the ones that came in a carton of six, and you needed a bottle opener) on Friday's as a treat for his kids. Mom said that this became a regular thing, and how all the kids could not wait for Friday's so they could get a Sprite to drink. I love to hear all the stories that my mom and my aunts share with me about how they grew up. I thought this one was really neat, because I had just started it with my family. I always want to remember it is the simple things that bring true happiness, and that is what really counts!
(Mom is the little girl to the very far right of the picture. I know you can not see really clear, but she reminds me of Mallory in this. I love this picture, it has all 11 children in it.)
