At first we did not think this was him. We thought they had gotten pictures of the wrong child because he has changed so much since the first pictures. As we looked at the pictures over and over thinking that this just isn't the same child, Maggie said “We can adopt this little boy too.”our kids amaze me with there big loving hearts. So anyway after a few days we realized that it was him, I think it was just hard to accept the fact that he is changing so fast and we are missing it!
We found out that he knows he is getting a dad and a mom, he just doesn't know who. I will be so glad when we get approval so that we can send him a photo album of us. We also found out that he is in a foster home with 4 other children one of them being his best friend. It makes me so happy to know he is already in a family setting with 4 other children, but I get so sad for him thinking about him leaving his best friend and his foster family. When I look at this picture though and see that smile on his face I like to think it is because he knows he is going to have a family of his own and that it makes him happy.
Oh, by the way I forgot to mention what we are going to name him. We called him Jack for the longest time because that was what our agency called him. We prayed and talked about little Jack all the time so it was hard to change. You know whatever we named him it had to be an "M" name, so we are naming him Maxson Thomas Matheny and will call him Max.

Hi there - I don't even know you so I apologize for a completely random comment! I think I found your blog through a friend of a friend's links (all LDS). But I wanted to say how wonderful this adoption feels as I read about it. I'm sure he is sent to you through inspiration and it is so exciting to think about all the wonderful things he will bring to your family and all the wonderful things you will bring to his life!
Blog updates from you are getting exciting! Thanks for sharing all this! LOVE the name. He is a very cute!
He is absolutely beautiful! His eyes are so bright and what a smile! I think Gretch should adopt his little friend. You know you wanna! Heather, is he in an English speaking home? WE have friends who adopted a child from China and the transition was a bit rocky because of communication. She was 2 and only knew chinese. Are you guys learning small phrases?
