Maggie Kate's Talk

Maggie Kate gave a talk on Baptism today at church. She did a great job. She talked about how excited she is to be getting baptized in October, and how many blessings would come from it. She was so cute up there in front of everyone with her tiny little voice.
She was excited because we have started a new tradition in our family. It's when someone gives a talk, that person gets to pick which dessert we have that day after dinner. She chose cherry crunch, a favorite recipe from Mama Mary. :) She tried to bargain with us asking for a new book too, but we said no she would have to earn that by doing some work around here!!!
Cherry Crunch
1 stick of butter softened
1 cup of brown sugar
1-2 cups of oatmeal (I use 2)
1/2 cup of flour
Mix together until crumbly.
Press 1/2 mixture into greased pan 8x8or pie plate.
Add one can of Chery pie filling.
Top with remaining dry ingredients.
Bake @ 350 for about 45 minutes
We love it with vanilla ice cream....yummy!!!
(Mary Meredith made this for us when she prepared a meal for our family after Mitchell was born:)...It has been a family favorite since!!!)

Her talk was so good! I'm glad I was right next to her so I could hear her cute little voice. She's such a sweet girl & a great example to those around her.

I am sure MK's talk was wonderful ~ such a cutie as all your family is. So pleased that recipe is still around. Funny ~ someone made it for us when McKenzie was born and it too is one of our favorites ~ but ya gotta add the ice cream!!! It is good with apple pie filling as well.
