Thankful Thursday

I can always say how thankful I am for each one of my children, but today I am going to share how thankful I am for Mitchell. Now, don't get me wrong he is not perfect, but we think he is pretty awesome! He is always an example to us..... When we are in the car listening to the radio if a song that is bad or even has a bad beat to it comes on, he turns the radio off. He always says, "Mom, I think we need some quiet time in here." I love it! Meredith loves to watch Dancing With The Stars, but Mitchell refuses to be in the room if she has it on. He always says, "That show is really not good to watch, they are barely dressed." I love it! If Mallory and Maggie Kate are scared at night, he always sleeps with them. He always says, "I think they feel safe with me in the room." I love it! Mitchell has a fairly new friend in the neighborhood. He always says, "I love to talk about the gospel with S. , we talk about it every time we are playing." I love it!

Mitchell recently gave his first talk in sacrament meeting. He spoke about missionary work. He told about how he had just given out his first Book Of Mormon to his Geography teacher, and how great it made him feel. He said "I can't wait to go on my mission someday." I loved the quote he shared in his talk, a quote from President Hinckley...

This is a season to be strong. It is a time to move forward without hesitation, knowing well the meaning, the breadth, and the importance of our mission. It is a time to do what is right regardless of the consequences that might follow. It is a time to be found keeping the commandments. It is a season to reach out with kindness and love to those in distress and to those who are wandering in darkness and pain. It is a time to be considerate and good, decent and courteous toward one another in all of our relationships, in other words to become more Christlike.

Mitchell was so eager to prepare and give this talk. He started to prepare for it two weeks in advance. He did all of it on his own, with no help from us. He told me the Saturday night before his talk "Mom most people probably don't feel this way, but I can't wait to give my talk." I LOVE IT!!!

I'm indeed thankful for our Mitchell!!!

The morning of his talk.

Mitchell loves it when his little cousin Davis comes over!

Thanks for sharing! He is certainly an example for everyone to follow! I loved that quote. One of our sons refused to watch American Idol because he felt that Heavenly Father would not want people spoken to so negatively- and they take the Lord's name in vain too much...he couldn't feel the Spirit while watching it. It totally opened my eyes and ears more. We can learn so much from our kids!

What a charmer! I mean that in the nicest of terms. Whoever lands him is a lucky lady! Keep an eye out for them, they will all be flocking to your door.
