One year ago...

we met our little Max, and our lives were changed forever!
I can't believe it has been a year! Looking back over the past year is amazing! Our family has been so blessed to have Max come home. We couldn't imagine our lives without him. Max has brought so much  happiness into our lives that we didn't even know was missing! Adopting Max was one of the scariest, yet biggest blessings our family has ever experienced. Through the process of adoption there were times when we felt so scared...all the "what ifs", but as soon one of us would feel that way, we would pray and a calmness would come over us, and we had peace that it was right. I am so thankful everyday we didn't let the "what ifs" stop us! Max was meant to be ours! I am so thankful for our loving Heavenly Father who held my hand through the entire process and helped us find each other.

I am not sure who all reads my blog, but if there is anyone out there who has felt that little tug in their hearts for adoption, but feels scared, please don't let the "what ifs" scare you away! Adoption is scary at times. Adoption does take a huge leap of faith, but I promise you it will be one of the biggest blessings in your life!

The past year for Max:
He has gained 12 lbs.
He has out grown all his pants.
He has started school...and LOVES it!
He is starting to read simple books.
He is our social butterfly! He loves his friends!
He loves nilk (milk) :)
He is fluent in English. He has the cutest southern accent :)
He loves Mama C and Grama Linda...they spoil him rotten!
He loves his big brother...he wants do to everything just like him.
He is very LOVED!

Some of my favorite memories with Max over the past year:

  • I love the way he prays. He always thanks Heavenly Father for his family and that we are togeder (together):)

  • I love the way he always gives me a hug first thing in the morning and says "Mama I lub (love) you."

  • I love how excited he gets over everything.

  • I love the way he calls me and his sister princesses.

  • I love it when he sees another little kid going into school each morning and he tries to beat them to the door just so he can hold it open for them.

  •  I love how he always says thank you. He is the sweetest boy! He thanks us for his food. He thanks us for helping him get dressed. He thanks us for telling him a good night story. He thanks us for letting him watch TV. He thanked us about a million times for taking him trick or treating last weekend. He thanks us for EVERYTHING! :)

  •  One day (after we had been home a month or so) while I was driving, I looked in my rear view mirror and saw Max looking out the window smiling. I said, "What are you smiling so big about?" I loved his response. He said, "Mama Max so happy!" This has happened a lot over this past year, and I love it! Max, we are so happy!

Max loves to have Family Home Evening! In this pic the kids were racing to see who could get dressed the fastest. They had two baskets with an assortment of clothing. They couldn't be picky about what they put on, they just had to hurry up and beat the other team! That's why Max and Mitchell have my skirts and shoes on and the girls have Michael's church coats on! :)...We are not teaching cross dressing around here!!!

Yes, Max has brought a lot of joy and happiness to this family. He is so sweet and expresses gratitude for even the smallest of things....things that so many of us have taken for granted. I often feel a need and urge to thank Heather and Michael for taking the initiative and long hard road traveled for adoption. I know that there were lots of prayers given, and they were surely answered.

Max, always allow God to guide and direction you in the right paths so that you will make good and wise choices, because I know that he has special things in store for you. We love you!

It's true...We too have been touched by the sweet spirit of little max. He has a way with people and invites all in to his little heart. We feel so blessed to get to share in his first year here too. He is so much like his mama! It's been so fun to watch him grow!
