First Day Of School 2010

Last week (8/9/10) was the first day of school for all the kiddos. I was a big ball of emotion, which is nothing new, but this year it was different. We were sending our kids out the door, and into uncharted territory...all new schools, with all new teachers, and people we don't know!!! I was so nervous for them all, especially Meredith and Mitchell. Those two are going to a huge high school. Oh and Mallory, I was really nervous for her, too. She was starting a huge middle school. Our kids have always gone to small schools where we knew just about everyone. I thought about each one of them all day. I couldn't wait to pick them up and see how their day went. I was so relieved we were all home and everyone talked about their day with so much excitement...they all loved it!
Kids are amazing at how well they adjust to new things. Michael and I have been worrying for nothing! My heart is so full each day when the kids get home, and tell me about a new friend they have made, or how much they love their new schools. It's just extra confirmation to me that we made the right choice by taking that leap of faith and making this move.

Max 1st grade
Maggie 4th grade

 Mallory 6th grade
 Mitchell Freshman
 Meredith Junior

 The wheels that get our high-schoolers to seminary and school! Can you imagine? They are lovin' it! :)
Something else new for us this year!
The kids have NEVER ridden a school bus to school....and I NEVER thought they would. I have always loved driving them myself. I love having that time in the car to talk, and I really love seeing them walk through the doors of the school.
BUT...
this year the 3 little ones are riding a bus! We live like 2-3 minutes from each of the kids' schools, and the buses come right in front of our house...so the little kids begged to ride the bus on the second day of school. I caved and said ok. I cried like a baby as I watched them drive off! That was so hard for me to watch!!! They are loving it though. They're always the last ones to be picked up in the morning, and the first ones to get off in the afternoon. They are only on there for a total of 5 min each way. I like the fact that my elementary schoolers are with all elementary kids, and Mallory is only with middle school kids. It has been kinda neat for them to meet all the other kids in our neighborhood, too. And now that I'm use to it, it really is great. I am definitely getting more done, not having to be in the car all the time! I love, love, love being home in the afternoons so when they get off the bus, and walk through the door, I can have the house smelling yummy with fresh baked rolls or muffins right out of the oven! They are loving that, too!

My camera messed up right after I took Max's picture, so when Mallory's bus came I couldn't get a picture. I have two cameras in the shop!!! UGH!

I have lots of catching up to do here on the blog. We had two birthdays this summer, and I didn't even do a  post for...terrible! I have been busy unpacking and trying to get the house in order. Oh, and just to register the kids for school here took all summer...really! It was like jumping through hoops to get it all done! It's crazy!!!

We are loving it here! It is so beautiful, and I have never had this much convenience in my life! When I say convenience, I mean everything is close to my house...everything, yet it's not like a big city! Our church, the schools, Wal-mart, Target, and all the great shopping spots are only a couple of minutes away. And we love that we can get to everything on our golf carts! So fun! I will have to take pics when I get my cameras back in order so that I can get this blog/journal up to date!

So good to hear from you!! I'm loving the golf carts--- that's the coolest thing ever. Your kids are as beautiful as ever. Just make sure Maggie and Mallory come out here to school so they can hook up with my boys. (;

Love you!

I'm so glad to hear you guys are settled. Your kids all look so grown up. Ethan is riding the bus from home this year here in Alabama for the same reason. The school is like 3 blocks away so he gets home quicker than I could pick him up. It's so fun to wait by the door with Elena for them to show up.

LOVE the first day of school pics. I'm so happy that the kids are adjusting so well to their new schools. And how cool that Meredith and Mitchell get to drive the golf cart! I bet they're in heaven!
