One of Meredith's best friends here is a young man who moved here a month after we did. We go to the same church, they are in the same grade, and have some classes together. Actually our families have become very close, too. They have another son that is Mitchell's age. These four kiddos, being "new", have bonded. I have told them many times that I "prayed" them here, because I prayed so much that my kids would find good friends.
Meredith and Conner are like brother and sister! Meredith has said many times "If Conner were a girl he would be my best friend ever". They have been there for each other at school. When one or the other meets someone new, they make sure to introduce them to each other. I know I have said it before, but I couldn't imagine making a change in school at their age! We are very thankful our kids have them to go through these changes with. They are great kids!
So anyways, it's prom season for Juniors and Seniors in most high schools, right? Well, Meredith has a best friend from back in TN (Rachel) who comes to visit us on occasion. And of course she has been introduced to Conner. So, Conner and Rachel have been texting and talking for several months now. Well, Conner wanted to ask Rachel to the prom, and he wanted to be really creative with it. No boring stuff like just calling her up and asking her on the phone! He and Meredith put their heads together and came up with the cutest way to ask! Oh, and Rachel's twin sister was in on this scheme as well!!!
Conner came over with roses, markers, poster board, and his suit. Meredith made a poster asking the question...prom, yes or no??? Then, Conner got dressed up in his suit with the roses and Meredith took his pictures. Once everything was done they got Rachel's password from her twin sister and they hacked into her facebook. They uploaded all these pictures of Conner holding the poster and roses to her account. They made Conner's picture her profile picture. So when Rachel got onto her facebook page she would see all this. It was the cutest thing...so creative and fun! Our whole family, including Mama C, enjoyed the fun.
When Rachel got on her facebook later that night, she was so shocked at what she saw. She text Meredith telling her to get on facebook and see what was going on. Little did she know, Mere was in on the whole thing ;)
As you can see, all my kids loved this. Maggie is the one holding the poster in this picture :)
A few minutes later Rachel's facebook profile picture was of her in her dress holding a poster up that read YES!
It's SO, SO fun having teenagers...I LOVE it!!!
