Maggie's Shopping Spree, Music Festival & Spotlight

This past Saturday while the big kids were away practicing for the cultural celebration, and Max was having a day with Baba outside, Maggie and I decided to go on a little shopping spree. We went to Gap & Children's Place where Maggie found some cute stuff. She was so sweet. I kept finding things for her to try on and she would say, "Oh mom, this is too much, I don't want you to spend all your money on me." Though Maggie has been out shopping many times, and had special one on one dates with me or her dad, I didn't realize that this was the first time she had ever been on a shopping spree with me by herself. She kept thanking me over and over, and telling me this was the best day ever! It was fun to spoil her! I love my little Maggie girl!
When we got home she went to her room, and spread her new loot out on her floor so she could look at it. Later that night she took her daddy up to see it all, and though he is no musician, he grabbed her guitar and sang her a little jig about her special day. It was one of his funny, rhyming songs he likes to make up. He is a nut! :)

A few weeks ago Maggie was in a music festival. She had been practicing and practicing for this day. She was so nervous. She was going to be judged on her performance by someone she had never met, and when you preform it's only you and the judge in the room...nerve wracking! In the judging you can get a score of good, excellent, or superior. She did great! Not only did she get superior, she got superior plus!!! When she came out of the room she showed her teacher her paper, and her teacher said she had only seen two other superior pluses!
We are hoping for a music scholarship someday to BYU! ;)

Maggie was the classroom spotlight a few weeks ago. She took pictures in of our family, along with some other things that are special to her. At the beginning of the year the teacher had each child write about themselves so she could use it as their spotlight in the classroom weekly news. Below is what Maggie wrote about herself.

Fort Walton Beach Spring Break 2011

What a beautiful sight this is. We heard lots of squealing going on in the back of the van, as the kids started to see the water.
The first night we got there the boys had to go get some fresh shrimp. I think Max could eat his weight in shrimp.
The kids couldn't wait to get up and go on a morning walk each day.

This was a first for Max. We haven't been to the beach since we adopted him. He loved everything about it. He told me that when he gets big he is going to have a house on the beach.

The kids were tuckered out by the time the sun went down. Max loved sleeping in the hallway bunk beds. He couldn't believe it when he first walked in and saw them.

Though we loved our vacation, it wasn't the same without our Meredith. BUT, she was having a blast with her friends and their family at Disney World. We missed her terribly the whole week. It was really hard to share her, especially knowing she will be going off to college soon. The kids kept saying this is what it's going to be like when Mere is gone to college. One night Mallory was missing her so much she cried and had to call her :(

Meredith text me this picture one day asking if I remembered the same pose with Mickey and Minnie when she was 10. My reply was, "yes, just like it was yesterday"!

Mitchell is such a good driver, he drove half way to the beach, and half the way back.
We wanted to take Ollie with us, but there were no condos with pets allowed. We made sure and got him a good dog sitter. Our sweet neighbor Sophie watched him for us, and she did a wonderful job! We will definitely be hiring her again!
He seemed so much bigger when we got home. He looked like he had gained 10 lbs while we were gone. We were glad to get home to him, we all missed him!

Spring Picture Day

Our two little ones have Spring picture day today. They were both practicing their smiles this morning :)
