Hamster, School, and Early Birthday Present

Maggie Kate class at school got a pet hamster this week. They named it Honey. Maggie Kate has always wanted a hamster and her birthday is coming up in 10 days, so what do you think she is asking for? Yes, you got it, a hamster. So tonight was church for all the other kids, and when they are at church Maggie and I usually have a fun little date. Can you guess where our date was tonight? You got it....Pet Smart. I told her that we could just go look at the hamsters and see if that is really what she wanted for her birthday. While we were there I spotted a cage that was on sale for half its regular price and it had all the things in it we would for the little thing. It was the last one of its kind so I had to get it while it was on sale. Maggie was thrilled! I told her that we were only getting the cage tonight, because it was on sale...the hamster would be on her birthday. She agreed ok. Well we had to look at the hamsters. We got a couple out that just seemed wild and crawled away, would not even let Maggie hold them. Then came the sweet little on (if a hamster can be sweet), it let Maggie hold it and snuggle, it did not try to bite, it was just really sweet, and the lady said this is not normal for one to be this sweet. So guess what? Yes we came home with an early birthday present named Nibbles. I felt that I could not pass up the chance at getting a good calm one. You know. As soon as we got in the car Maggie Kate had to call her teacher Mrs. Brown, she was so excited...it was precious. I could hear Mrs. Browns excitement over the phone, and she told Maggie She could bring it to school with her for the day tomorrow. So Maggie Kate is so excited that she has a new hamster and that it gets to go to school with her tomorrow.

I have to say I felt really bad for getting the hamster without Michael being with us and seeing the excitement in Maggie Kate's little face when she said "I need to pinch myself I am so excited", but I could not pass up the good one. Michael is going to go eat lunch with her tomorrow at school and see the new hamster. Maggie had to call him about 20 times while on the way home to talk about the hamster. I need to say it again I love being a mom!!!
