(Now, I am not one to push the whole girlfriend boyfriend thing, but I do want my kids to feel that I validate their feelings.) So here goes...
On Thursday Mitchell told me that he ask a girl to go to the dance with him. OK I said, how exactly are you going to get her there? Mitchell said, her mom and dad are taking her. Oh, that is great I said. Then he ask me if he had to buy his own ticket to the dance? I told him yes of course, that is why we give you an allowance. He then ask does that mean I have to buy her ticket too? Yes, I replied. He did not like that idea at all. He said but she already bought her ticket, so do I just walk up to her and give her the 5$? I told him not to worry about it this time since she already bought her ticket, but next time if you are going to ask a girl to the dance you have to let her know early so you can buy her ticket....how much you want to bet he will not ask a girl next time ;)
I just had to blog that conversation to remember how funny it was. Mitchell wanted to ask a girl to the dance, but he did not know about having to shell out his money.
On Friday when we got home from school, Mitchell picked his clothes out right away and asked his dad to iron them (Michael does all of our ironing). He kept a close watch on the clock. The dance started at 7:00 and lasted until 9:00. Around 5:00 I could smell a strong sent of men's cologne coming from upstairs. A few minutes later Mitchell came down saying... mom I had to put some cologne on, do I smell OK? He also mentioned that he put extra deodorant on too. I tried not to get tickled, but it was to funny! Meredith finally came down ready to go and off we went.
Michael, the girls, and I went to the mall for a little while to shop until time to pick them up. I could not wait to go pick the kids up so we got back to the school at 8:30. I know a little early, but I wanted to see them dancing. Mallory and Maggie Kate begged to go see, so we all went in and watched the remainder of the dance. It was so fun to see Mitchell, Meredith and all of their friends dancing together and having so much fun.
After the dance was over all the kids and parents went to hang out at Stake and Shake. We had a blast!!!
I have to mention that the little girl that Mitchell wanted to ask to the dance has been one of his best friends since Kindergarten. She has been his number one pick for a football team mate all these years! One day in 2ND Grade he came home and ask me ...Just because C is one of my best friends does that mean she is my girl friend? He has always thought of her as a best friend!

oh my goodness how much fun! and it so nice that you have great friends to celebrate these moments with! Those friends happen to be the most handsomeEST friends they could have picked! BLAKEY is a hunka hunka hunka MAN!!! Too cute. Your boy is a mover on the dating line.LOL, He is gorgeous! who wouldn't fall for those beautiful eyes. I haven't had that yet. Spencer is 16 and plays more the kewl operator kinda guy. Girls follow him. They ask him out and pay. He says along as they ask me and pay, why do I have to ask? He has a point! So with looks like your son. He could just sit back and keep his cash. NOW, my Aden, him and A are too much alike and Aden is definitely the pursuer. He will most likely ask a girl to his first dance too. He already has had 3 girlfriends. So glad, you are ahead of me, in this game. I will watch and learn!
Do the kiddos have moves like their momma?
For those of you that don't know, Heather perfected Michael Jackson's moonwalk in 1985. Some say she does it better than the 'King of Pop' himself.
ok- I feel old now. :)
My two little babies, are you kidding me? I did a lot of dancing with those two a long long time ago. They are just as precious and fun (I am sure) now as they were way back when they were my buddies. I wish I could have seen them dance too. You need to show off some of those skills that G was talking about- I've seen a lot of pictures make then better never any moves. :)
Oh yeah! The apple didn't fall far from the tree. I think they take after their mom!!!
Beautiful babies from the outside in. I am so glad my kids have great friends to grow up with. I am so blessed.
I never knew raising kids could be this much fun!
Love you guys.
