Meredith and I are so excited because May 12 we will be heading to Washington with Meredith's 8th grade class. While we are there, we will be seeing many monuments and other exciting places. One of them being the Arlington Cemetery, where thousands of soldiers have been buried, both named and unknown. Meredith has the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. To receive this honor the students had to write an anonymous paper on why they wanted to lay the wreath at the tomb. Meredith and 3 other classmates were chosen by teachers and middle school peers. I have never been to Washington, but Michael says that he will never forget the feelings he had when at Arlington Cemetery. Such an honor for Meredith, and so exciting for us both!
Let's all hope that Michael is still sane when I come back :) ...I have hope that he will, thanks to Gretchen.

Oh, Heather! You will love it! I went with my nephew when he was in 6th grade. Even though I was pregnant with Keyton at the time, I had the best time ever! It is a trip you guys will never forget! Congratulations to Meredith! That is a very big honor. Can't wait to read your blogs from this!
Meredith, what a special honor--a once in a lifetime moment. That must have been a great paper you wrote and I know your Mom is popping with pride!
Your trip will be so fun and a great time for just you and Mer. before your new little guy comes home from China. I am so excited to get to have your kids for a little bit of the time while you are gone. We'll have a blast.
Heather, I love DC! In fact, we are planning a trip to DC because Aden is begging to go. It is only an 8 hour drive for us but we are going to fly and spend a weekend there. WE will see all the sites, tour the white house, and go to the visitors center and the temple. Bill and I were sealed in the DC temple. I am going to have our pictures taken on the temple grounds since our family is complete. I know you will have a great time there! There is something about DC that makes things magical. It is most beautiful at night. I don't know how you are going to get around, but I would do the metro pass for $7.
