This is our guide Yoshi (pronounced Yo-sure :) He is giving us the details of our day. We have been so blessed to be traveling with a great family. They are adopting a little girl Ashley 15 months old.
Our first stop was the Jade Factory. It was amazing to see how they carve each piece with such detail. The people who work on the jade are taught the skills and then the skills are handed down from generation to generation. We learned that jadeite is the highest quality of jade there is. We also learned that each girl is given a jade bangle from her mother at a certain age and it is handed down through the generations. The jade bangle stands for good health, happy life and longevity. It is always worn on the left wrist and never taken off until time to hand it down. We have loved learning all the cultural things! Girls we will quiz you when we get home :)Stop #2 The Great Wall. I can't believe we can say that I have climbed the Great Wall!!! It was so neat-girls we are coming back! I think that was the best work out I have ever had! Our legs were like jello when we got down.

#4 Temple of Heaven. We didn't get to go in, but we walked on the outside grounds. It was like a big park with lots of people playing hacky-sack, singing, dancing and even playing poker. Michael, Mitchell and the other kids we are traveling with joined in with a group playing hacky-sack. Mitchell was actually pretty good and got some cheers from the people. As we pass by people they will sometimes turn to look at Mitchell and the other little boy we are traveling with. It's funny. It's as if they've ever seen a little boy with blue eyes and blonde hair :)
We are so appreciative of all the prayers and words of encouragement we have received. I can't believe tomorrow if the big day!!!
Please excuse errors...jet lag kicks in about the time we need to update and my eyes start to cross:)
PS -we saw a little boy today while we were at The Great Wall who looked just like Max. Mitchell stopped to watch him walk by then said to me "Oh mom that little boy makes me want Max so bad." He couldn't stop smiling!!!......I just want to remember everything since this is my journal :)

What amazing pictures! I am so excited for you all! I just can't get you all off of mind! I am anxiously awaiting hearing details of your thoughts and emotions when you first hold Max in your arms! I know it must be so hard on you being away from the girls, but hang in there! How long do you have to stay before b ringing him home? Have a wonderful time and we are still praying for you! Lots of love to China!
oh gosh heather, I am checking your blog every few minutes. I am so glad you posted. It feels like you are so far away to see these pictures. I can't believe this is actually happening. I keep thinking back to a year ago when I started praying for your family and if Max. This year has been a whirlwind to watch you all and it just doesn't seem real that you are already there.
I am so glad you got some time to adjust and now you finally get to see your little man.
I can't wait till I wake up tomorrow.
Good luck. I'll be praying for you all 7!!!
Heather,
i just cought up with your adventures. I just can't believe that picture of you all peeking out over the Great Wall. That is SO awesome. Gabe was telling me yesterday on the way home from church that he knew why you weren't at church. He said you were in Chinese getting your new son Max. I told him that Max would be in his class and they would be best friends. He said that he hopes that Max will teach him Chinese and that he will teach Max English. He said that he will show Max where to go in primary. ; ) We are so excited for tomorrow. Post soon!
Love, Lisa

Mallory
My heart is racing for you- I am so excited and amazed with this experience you are going through.
As I go back and look st your blog, it reminds me of our trip this summer. I can relate to the jello legs . . . When we were there it was HOT too, so we were a mess by the end of our climb. I am guess you were on the same section of the wall that we visited by looking at the pictures. What is sight!
Thanks for giving me your blog information, this is bringing back lots of great memories.
