Officially Ours

It is now official...Guang Fang Feng is now a Matheny! Maxson Thomas Matheny!!! We are thrilled with him. At one point today Mitchell looked at me and said "Mom I don't know how our family did it without him in it, I love him." Yes, Mitchell is thrilled to have a brother :) While we were being interviewed at the CCAA office he told the lady that he loves us very much :) He already has us wrapped around his little finger. He has personality plus and is FULL OF ENERGY (Gretchen you are getting you wish...he had me on my toes today)!!! Max is a very curious little thing. He gets into everything. He looks at me with the cutest little face as if he is asking if it is ok for him to get into something. I shake my head ok, then off he goes. Last night he got out a piece of paper and kept drawing Chinese characters on it. He would run over and show me and rattle off something in Chinese. This morning I took the paper with me so that I could ask our guide, Judy, what it said. She told me it was a story about a tiger on the mountain. She asked him who taught him how to write stories. He said his foster brother taught him. Judy said the foster family he came from educated him well. Once today while I was taking him potty he started singing the alphabet. I was so surprised. He sings all the time...it is so cute. While we were in a store shopping tonight a lady started talking to him. They were speaking mandarin, so I had no clue what they were saying. The lady started laughing. She said he is very clever. He told her he was going abroad with us and he loved us very much. He seems to love numbers. He counts everything, so we bought him some cards that have simple math with Chinese and American numbers on them. When we got back to our room he was teaching Mitchell how to say them in Chinese and he would get so tickled at Mitchell. I guess Mitchell wasn't saying it just right. He is so much like his big brother, there is no doubt he was meant to be ours. He is so neat. Just like Mitchell, everything has to be in perfect order. This morning at breakfast he sat down, took the napkin, unfolded it, and then put it in his lap. He kept looking under the table to see if Michael had put his napkin in his lap. He couldn't understand why his baba hadn't done that too. He has the best manners :) He loves for us to hold him where ever we go and we get lots of kisses along the way. Today while we were walking through a store he would kiss me on one cheek, then the other. He smiles every time you look at him and it makes us melt. We are trying to get him used to being called Max. It is so funny he says Mask. He just can't get that x.

We are thrilled beyond all expectations with him. He is ours and once again we have been blessed :):):)!!!

I know this is choppy writing, but my mind is so full things I want to remember and I am so sleepy/tired, so I am just typing what comes to memory...bare with me as you read. He loves his juice!

He loves his gege!

He loved McDonald's. He got so excited when he saw french fries. We could tell he has been there before. Here is an example of his neatness. He wanted to eat his fish sandwich without the bread. I opened it up and it had tarter sauce all over it. I wiped the sauce off then picked it up to hand it to him. He made a face and pointed at the sauce. He didn't want to touch it so he grabbed a napkin to hold it so his hands wouldn't get messy.

I think he is going to be a photographer some day. He LOVES to take pictures....you can tell that someone has let him do this because he knew how to look back at them.

Last night he wanted mama to lay down for a minute. He was singing a song to me. When he was done he pointed over to the other bed and said baba. He then pointed at me, then back to the other bed. I knew exactly what he meant...for me to go sleep with baba. He did the same thing tonight. His foster mom must have tucked him in with a song each night.

He gave us all kisses before we went to bed. He kept kissing Mitchell. He would say gege Mitchell, then he would smile so big.

We went to a nice Italian restaurant tonight, Max loved it! He loved the garlic sauce too. He poured the whole thing on his pizza. Mitchell loves parmesan cheese and he always loads his pizza with it. Well, Max copies everything his ge ge does, so he loaded his with parmesan cheese, too. When we got back to the room tonight, we called home. The girls were so excited to talk to Max. This is the first time for them to talk to him. He got on the phone and said nihoa (hello) to them. He said gie gie Mallory and gie gie Maggie. He told him he loved them too.He gets so excited when he sees the girls picture. He says jie jie , then their names. I taught him to say Mama C today too :) Oh he said nihoa to Aunt Paige today too.

One of Max's favorite things is to take a bath. Mama loves to cuddle after he gets out!

He is gorgeous, Heather. I know you are so full of mixed emotions. This has to be so different than anything you've ever done before. I'm glad it is going so well. Amory says he is so cute! The other comment that was published was by me also. I don't know why it said Amory's name. Thanks for all of the updates. They've been cool!
