This And That

Max's appointment at Vanderbilt went really well. When we got there we went into a room with an interpreter. Max didn't seem to like it at all when the interpreter started speaking Mandarin to him. He gave her a look as if he wanted her to stop talking to him. He wouldn't speak to her at first. After about an hour he started to talk to her a little. I told her he spoke both Mandarin and Cantonese. She told Max that she only spoke Mandarin. Well, when he heard that he got smart. He started speaking every other word Mandarin/ Cantonese, then he would laugh. He is a smart little cookie....he knew exactly what he was doing.
As usual, I had my camera with me so I could get all this in pics. I started taking pictures of the nurse getting his weight, height, etc... When the nurse was finished, Max ran to his backpack, pulled out his camera, and started taking pictures of her. She though he was cute and she got a kick out of him.
He has gained 5 lbs. since his Dr. appointment in China. We knew he was getting heavier :) The child psychiatrist/attachment specialist was very impressed with his bonding to us, she said he was already at the stage most older adopted children are after about a year with their new parents. The occupational therapist scored him as above average. He just turned five and she scored him as a six year old. That is huge for a child who has been in an orphanage/foster care, usually they are behind. She was very impressed with him.

Max loves it when it's time for school work. He sat for hours and painted today. We are working on drawing shapes. He does a great job! He reminds me so much of the other kids, so neat and particular with his work. When he colors he stays in the lines so well for his age.
When he sees me unloading the dishes, he stops me so that he can do it. We hope he will rub off on the other kids ;)Maggie and Max LOVE the puppies. Max says over and over...soft with the puppies, then he kisses them. Poor Beasley is getting "lots of love" from Max. We hope Beasley lives through all the love he gets from Max!

What a blessing Max has been to us already. He has fill our home with even more joy, love, and daily excitement to our family. He is a special little boy. I can't wait to see what all Heavenly Father has in store for him... I think it's going to be BIG!!!
