Celebrating Chinese New Year

It's the year of the Ox!

Although Chinese New Year was actually on Jan. 26th, the Discovery Center celebrated it on Friday night. The kids have greatly anticipated this event for several weeks now.  They  got to make dragon puppets, taste Chinese food, do a dragon dance, and learn tons of new things about China. We all had great fun.It felt so good to celebrate and incorporate some of Max's culture.
We celebrated on the 26th here at home by dressing in our Chinese clothing, eating Chinese food, and making some Chinese crafts.

Our little emperor!

Max loved the Discovery Center! He was so excited, he could hardly contain himself. I think he liked it better that Chuck E. Cheese!!!

The dragon dance. Max knew exactly what to do.
While I am on the subject of Max's culture...
I went to get my nails done the other day, and Max went with me. The place I go is owned by an Asian family. They have a statue of Buddha sitting on the sign in table. As I was signing in, I looked down to see Max rubbing Buddha's tummy. While we were in China we learned that the Chinese believe if you rub Buddha's tummy you will have good luck....I thought it was cute :)

Hey, good pixs. Hate that I missed that. That is exactly why I'm clamoring to retire. I don't want to miss a thing. I've already missed too much. As Max would say "poor little Mama "C"!

love a, Mama "C"

Heather you are such a great MOM. Spending time with your kids and doing all this cool stuff with them. They are lucky.

Do you have a membership to the Discovery Center? (We love it & go at least once a week.)

The clothes are beautiful!

Okay, but most importantly, have you gotten poor Mitchell a new tie yet??

I am kidding, I wish there were Russian heritage things like that around here too. Not that they remember a bit of it!

That is so much fun! We haven't been to the Discovery Center in forever. They are so cute in their outfits. Did you get them in China? Max is the cutest thing ever!

We got Max's outfit in China, but we have Gretchen to thank for the girls cute little outfits!!! She was so sweet to make those for them. They wore them to the airport when we came home :)
Thanks Gretch!!!
