Tasty Tuesday

One of my fondest memories as a child is baking cookies with my Aunt Trish. When Aunt Trish would come visit we would always make numerous batches of cookies. Now, my mom let me help her make cookies too, but they just weren't the same as Aunt Trish's cookies. Aunt Trish had the best cookie recipes, and she always let us kids do most of the work. The best part of all was when she would scoop us out big spoon fulls of dough and let us eat it raw. I think she has always been famous for her cookie dough. She use to tell me stories about when she was in collage at BYU. She and the other girls would make cookie dough and eat it raw with whip cream on top...yum! I love these memories, and guess what??? Aunt Trish is now making cookies with my kiddos when she comes home...I love it &  so do they! Thanks Aunt Trish-we love you!
Here is a new cookie recipe she made with my kids last time she was home.
They are to die for!

Chewy Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies
4 1/4 C Self rising flour
1 1/2 C Land O Lakes butter-softened (you can use any brand just as long as it is real butter)
1 1/4 C Sugar
1 1/4 C Packed Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Tbs Vanilla
1 12 oz Pkg. Chocolate Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (I used mini and it was delicious!)

Mix butter, sugars, vanilla, and eggs (this is where her secret is...she mixes and mixes until it is like a cream). Gradually add flour and chocolate chips. Roll into 1/4 cup size balls. Bake at 375 for 10-14 minutes. They will look raw when you get them out...that's ok. So yummy!
When I called Aunt Trish for the recipe, she told me she had just made a batch and sent them overnight to her son out at BYU.... What a treat!

I bet the missionaries are going to love 'em tonight for dessert, too!

Heather,

Moms are never as much fun in the kitchen as sweet aunts and grandmothers! Mom's are always thinking, "Let's get this done and get out of here and on to another chore." Yeah, I know you are an exception. You enjoy the kitchen and child play as much as the kiddies do. For this I am grateful. You remind me of sweet little Grannie Eula and her efforts to always have time for fun and laughter with her kids. You will always be a child at heart. Aunt Trish is sure fun for the kids. I use to be jealous when she came home. She captured all of you, and got all of my hugs and kisses. You were not mine again until she returned to the North. Uncle Mike was fun, too. He was always ready to head out someplace with all of you for fun things also.
Of course I totally enjoyed her boys and was always pleading for them to give "Aunt Carolyn a little sugar." I had no idea until years later that they thought that this phrase was so funny. I learned later that when they went back home that they ran around mimicking me with a very "suuutheern Draaawl" asking for a little sugar. A true girl from the south always wants a little sugar from the little folks.
For all of you "fellers" from elsewhere, that means a little kiss. Of course those little nephews from the North didn't know what I meant at first. Trish's family has all grown up,and we don't get to see them as often. That makes me so sad, because they are all so much fun. I'm glad that my grandchildren feel the same way about the M.'s as my children did. They get excited when they know that they are coming to TN and are sad when they leave. Isn't family such a blessing. M"s, we love and miss you! Hurry home soon
